Grapefruit-Sprout Smoothie + Why You Should Rotate Greens

Green smoothies are fantastic. But, like all good things: everything in moderation.


Make sure to switch up your greens every week or so to avoid overdosing and causing alkaloid buildup. WAIT WE'VE BEEN EATING POISON OUR WHOLE LIVES?! Calm down. You're not dead yet. And it's only a little bit.


Leafy greens naturally have low levels of toxin to avoid being eaten up by pests and animals!  Nobody has ever died from eating salad. Unless it was poisoned. POISON SALAD. A great murder mystery awaits...

Some people have more issues with it than others. I personally can't take spinach for more than a half week at a time; others have drunk the same smoothie for months on end without issue.

What does alkaloid buildup feel like? For me, my muscles get cramped and I feel stiff and I don't feel like eating spinach (as opposed to craving it ;P). That's about it.

Anyways, on to the recipe!


Grapefruit & Sprouts Smoothie
Handful sprouts
Grapefruit juice to cover

Blend 'til completely smooth.

Add a banana and whatever other goodies you've got lying around.

Blend.

OM NOM NOM.

Wait, sluuuurrrrppppp. Aha!
